Kuungana prepared a detailed discussion paper for DFID analysing the supply-demand balance across the electricity sector in sub-Saharan Africa. In addition to analysing and projecting the extent to which the region might have a capacity surplus over the coming years, the causes and consequences of surplus capacity were identified. The note made recommendations on the priority areas where DFID could provide technical assistance to tackle the issues highlighted by the paper.
