Kuungana led a landmark assignment with IFC to advise on the procurement of renewable IPPs by the City of Cape Town municipality in South Africa. This assignment followed liberalisation of the South African power sector, allowing for a more diverse range of offtakers, including municipalities. The project involved technical and financial analysis to evaluate the benefits of an IPP procurement and to advise on how such a procurement should be structured.
